Osaka Study Group Meeting was held on September 11th.
First we reviewed how to teach verb sentences with the MAT METHOD. It was a good occasion to reconfirm the importance of the Introductory Practice, where we check the meaning and the pronunciation of the vocabulary. We also experienced how important it is to use gestures. It is a very important factor with the MTA METHOD and it will make the whole process fun and what is more it helps students remember more.
Then we demonstrated how to teach the passive voice with the MAT METHOD. Teachers tend to think it is complicated and difficult. But when we teach with the MAT METHOD, which is designed to be student centered, the students will be able to learn with less stress. At the meeting, various foods which are eaten in many different countries were introduced. We found using the Word Cards very effective, too. By showing a clear context and having the students use the knowledge they already have, they will easily understand the grammatical rules by themselves.
Finally we enjoyed some Halloween Songs and Activities.
We thank you all who came to the meeting for your willingness to learn and your wonderful smiles.
